Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO Neighborhood facts
- In 1978, residents living between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges decided to give their neighborhood a name to strengthen the area's identity the community considered two acronyms. DANYA which stands for District Around the Navy Yard Annex, and the winning name, DUMBO.
- DUMBO used to have its own railroad to transport goods around the city. The tracks also ran inside certain manufacturing buildings. You can see the remains on certain cobblestone roads to this day.

Getting in: the meeting place is located near the Brooklyn Bridge (in front of the Tweed Courthouse, located at 52 Chambers Street between Broadway and Centre Street). Please arrive at least 15 minutes before tour departure at the tour meeting place.

The Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO Tour is 2.5 hours long. Approximately 1.5 miles is walked. We advise wearing comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothes. This tour is not wheelchair-accessible.
