A tribute to John Lennon based on the Beatles song ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’. This area was officially dedicated on October 9, 1985, the 45th anniversary of Lennon’s birth. It’s a designated Quiet Zone in the park, shaded by American elms and lined with benches.
Bethesda Fountain
Check out this fountain with its famous Angel of the Waters statue. Built in commemoration of the water system that brought fresh water to NYC in 1842, the angel carries a lily as a symbol of the water’s purity.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir
This 106-acre body of water takes up 1/8th of the park, while the 1.58 track that surrounds it is a favorite for New Yorkers to jog around.

It’s a great way to get a feel for Central Park and discover its highlights if you have limited time in New York. Our guide Dan was fantastic! He was very attentive to everyone’s needs and made a genuine effort to connect with each participant individually. What made the experience particularly special was how he tailored his explanations to the different backgrounds of the group, using references and comparisons to places in our hometowns.
