What you'll do
Escape the pace of Manhattan and explore the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), a vast green sanctuary in the Bronx and one of the city’s most impressive cultural attractions. Spanning 250 acres and home to 50 distinct gardens and plant collections, NYBG showcases more than one million plant species from around the world.
As well as its beautifully curated landscapes, the garden is known for its educational programmes and internationally acclaimed exhibitions, which change throughout the year and reflect the seasons. Families will also find plenty to enjoy, including a dedicated Children’s Garden with hands-on activities designed to inspire curiosity about the natural world.
Often described as New York City’s greatest living museum, the New York Botanical Garden offers a peaceful yet enriching experience, combining horticulture, conservation, and culture in a truly unique setting.
New York Botanical Garden’s highlights
Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden
One of NYBG’s most celebrated spaces, this garden bursts into colour from May to October, when more than 650 varieties of roses are in bloom. Some of these roses are cultivated for uses ranging from perfume-making to disease prevention.
Thain Family Forest
Step into a rare 50-acre old-growth forest, the largest remaining section of New York’s original woodland. This historic landscape offers a glimpse of what the region looked like before urban development.
