    Tips for visiting the Guggenheim Museum New York

    • Check out the current exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum before you visit as some require an additional ticket purchase.
    • Visiting on a Monday morning is recommended – when most other NYC museums are closed.
    • 'Pay What You Wish' hours are Monday and Saturday, 4PM – 5:30PM. The museum can get very busy during these hours so plan accordingly! 
    • Download the Guggenheim's Digital Guide to gain access to audio guides and exhibition texts, as well as information about the permanent collection and the Frank Lloyd Wright building in multiple languages.

    Guggenheim Museum visitor information 

    • Children under 12 receive free general admission with a paying adult. Therefore, child cards do not need to be scanned for entry.
    • A few times throughout the year, the Guggenheim Museum welcomes new exhibits and must close certain areas to the general public for installation. The amount of artwork on display is diminished during these times.

    Q. Can I take photographs inside the Guggenheim Museum?
    A. Photography for personal use is permitted in select areas, but the use of flash, tripods, or selfie sticks is prohibited.

    Q. Are there any special facilities for visitors with disabilities?
    A. The Guggenheim Museum offers accessible entrances, elevators, and restrooms for visitors with disabilities, as well as complimentary wheelchairs and assistive listening devices. Check the Guggenheim's website for more information on accesibility

    Q. Is there a gift shop on the premises?
    A. Yes, the Guggenheim Museum has a gift shop where you can purchase exhibition-related merchandise, books, art prints, and souvenirs.

    Q. Are there dining options available at the museum?
    A. Yes, Café Rebay serves pastries and chocolate, sandwiches and salads as well as plenty of drinks ranging from coffee to wine.

    Daily: 10:30AM - 5:30PM 

    Last ticket is issued 30 minutes before closing.

    'Pay What You Wish' hours are Monday and Saturday, 4PM  – 5:30PM. The museum gets very busy during these hours so plan accordingly. 

    Closings & holidays

    Closed: April 2, November 28, December 25.

    Closing early: May 21 at 4:30PM and Decebmer 24 at 4PM.

    Open, but spiral ramp is closed to visitors: April 8 – May 16 and Sep 29 – Nov 7
    (On these dates, views of the oculus may not be possible.)
